Socialization is the process through which a child acquires beliefs, behaviors and values deemed significant and appropriate by other members of society. Socialization, in simple terms, means “becoming human.”

The socialization of each succeeding generation serves society in at least 3 ways:

  1. Regulation of behavior
  2. Helps to promote the personal growth of an individual
  3. Perpetuates the social order; people who “become human” pass on what they know to their children
